THE OUTBREAK TRACKER AT A GLANCE
A unique approach to a widespread problem
The Outbreak Tracker is a novel piece of software that is designed to track and prevent H1N1 outbreaks from happening on farms. By using deep convolutional neural networks and RFID chip ear tags on farm animals, we can determine a risk score for how likely it is a certain animal has H1N1. We return this information on a heat map that we provide to the farm owner to better understand what precautions to take.

ENVIRONMENTAL
By reducing the amount of animals that catch H1N1 on a farm, we can also reduce the harmful impacts on the environment, such as, infected bodily fluids or waste or unintentionally changing the course of natural selection
ANIMAL
The Outbreak Tracker directly helps animals by providing a risk score on how likely it is a certain animal on a farm is infected. This can help with quarantining mechanisms and overall increase the health of the farm.
HUMAN
By reducing the spread of H1N1 in animals, we can help prevent an H1N1 pandemic before it starts. For example, in 1998, H1N1 was found in 4 pigs, and then proceeded to create a national pandemic.
"After I started noticing my farm animals becoming extremely lethargic and having runny noses and eyes, I brought a veterinarian to the farm. She diagnosed the pig with H1N1, so I followed the new One Health policy and used The Outbreak Tracker. It was easy to setup, and after a quick survey of which pigs were in close contact and which pigs had H1N1, it returned a heat map with the most likely areas to have H1N1."
